Working hours
Law No. 36 of 2012 provides that a worker may not actually work more than 48 hours per week, and generally not more than 8 hours a day unless otherwise agreed, provided actual daily hours do not exceed 10. Rest intervals for prayer, meals, and rest must total at least 30 minutes, and workers should not work more than six consecutive hours.
Leave
A worker who has completed at least one year of service is entitled to paid annual leave of not less than 30 days (about 2.5 days per month). The published law also requires that workers enjoy annual leave of 15 days including at least six consecutive days. Weekly rest is at least 24 hours.
Employment contracts
Private-sector employment should be documented according to the Labour Law and LMRA processes. Keep written evidence of wages, hours, and leave. Domestic work and certain categories may follow additional rules — verify category-specific guidance.
Wages and employee rights
The Labour Law addresses wages, leave, dispute resolution, and non-discrimination themes. Use LMRA resources for contract registration, complaints, and current circulars rather than relying on informal workplace practice alone.
